McLaren P1, Bentley Flying Spur, FPV Ford Falcon: This Week’s Top Photos. McLaren this week revealed the all-important powertrain details for its upcoming P1 supercar, the spiritual successor to the legendary F1, a car that to this day remains the fastest naturally aspirated production car the world has ever seen. The P1 travels a very different route for its performance, adopting a twin-turbocharged V-8 engine and hybrid drive system. Yes, the P1 is a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid to be exact. However, with a power rating of 903 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque, we’re sure few are complaining. Along with revealing the P1’s powertrain specs, McLaren also released more images of its supercar in testing, with this particular shot showing the supercar in full attack mode.

That extendable rear wing is part of the car’s Drag Reduction System. At the push of a button on the steering wheel, the driver will be able to reduce the amount of drag--up to 23 percent--on the rear wing. This is similar to the Drag Reduction System used in Formula One, though instead of raising or lowering its wing, the P1’s mechanism simply adjusts the angle of attack. By using the Drag Reduction System, McLaren says the P1 will be quicker. Of course, the system immediately deactivates when the button is released, or if the driver touches the brake pedal. In addition to this photo, McLaren has also released images of the P1’s new V-8 engine and a cross-section of the car showing its V-8 engine, electric motor and lithium-ion battery array. We don’t have long until the P1’s reveal, as its world debut is scheduled for March 5 at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. McLaren P1, Bentley Flying Spur, FPV Ford Falcon: This Week’s Top Photos.
